Dahi Vada

Ingredients:

  1. Urad dal without skin : 1 cup
  2. Cumin Seeds : 1 tsp
  3. Salt : to taste
  4. Hing : a pinch
  5. Rasins : 12-15
  6. Oil : for frying
  7. Curd : 3 – 4 cup
  8. Roasted cumin powder- For Garnishing : 1 tsp
  9. Red Chili powder- For Garnishing : 1 tsp
  10. Coriander Leaves chopped : 1 tsp

Method :

  1. Soak urad dal for 4-5 hrs.
  2. Add a little water to make a thick pakora like paste.
  3. Add cumin seeds, salt and hing (dissolved in 1/8 tsp water).
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. Take 1 raisin in hand and put that with pakoda’s batter,make small balls of it and put them for frying.
  6. Make small pakoras of urad dals batter.
  7. Deep fry them.
  8. Take them out and soak it in hot water for almost 15-20 minutes and cover them.
  9. Whisk the curd.Make it very smooth.
  10. Take the badas out from the hot water.Let it be for cooling.
  11. Now keep the 2 pakoras in 1 serving plate.
  12. Add 2 tbsp of curd.
  13. Garnish with all the masalas. Just sprinkle it.
  14. Add chopped coriander leaves.

Note :

  1. While serving can add dhania chutney and tamarind chutney also.
  2. You can garnish with very fine namkeen (which we use in bhel puri) and anardana.
  3. For Vadas, can mix the moong dal / chawla dal / urad dal in 1:1:1 ratio.
