Dal Methi

Ingredients:

  1. Moong Dal : 2 tbsp
  2. Masoor Dal : 1 tbsp
  3. Ghee : 2 tbsp
  4. Salt : to taste
  5. Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
  6. Red chili Powder : 1/2 tsp
  7. Jaggery : 1 tsp
  8. Garlic : 6 cloves
  9. Methi Leaves chopped : 1 big bowl
  10. Hing : a pinch

Method:

  1. Soak the dals for half an hour.
  2. Wash it properly.
  3. Add turmeric powder,salt and boil it.
  4. Mesh it properly.Add half cup of water, red chili powder and jaggery into it and boil it.
  5. Heat ghee in a pan.Add hing into it.
  6. Add garlic cloves into it.Saute it for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add methi leaves and saute it for 15 minutes on low flame without covering it.
  8. Add meshed dal into it.Mix it well and saute it for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve it hot with paranthas or rice.

Note:

Arhar dal can be used instead of moong and masoor dal.

Do not remove jaggery from the ingredients, as it adds a full bodied sweetness to methi’s slight bitterness.
